My friend Sara and I were skating at our local shopping mall. This was in the evening when no one was around. This was the best place to skate because it had lots of different size steps and banks and low rails that even we could skate on. We were there for an hour and then we were not alone, one cop had stopped to do what cops do. He said What the hell are you two doing?. We were real nice about everything and he got out of his car and walked over to us. Then he says You girls shouldnt be out this late, and you shouldnt be skateboarding because all you will do is get hurt. We didnt say anything. He continued talking though. I usually dont stop, but I had to make sure you girls havent broken your necks yet.

I dont know what he meant by all that, but I think he was saying girls arent capable of skating. Its not just the guys discriminating against girl skaters, now we have law enforcement and many other people getting in our way. One of my friends parents even made a remark about it, she said, You two shouldnt ride around on those skateboards, their dangerous. You should just leave that stuff up to your brothers.

I dont know why everyone is against girls skating. I know there are some girls that just wear the clothes and pretend to skate, but damn it! You can tell when a girl is serious about skating, but yet you still give them crap too.

Make sure you be careful about who you say cant skate just because of their sex, race, or age. Leave the discrimination to organized jock sports, and let anyone try to have fun with skateboarding.
